The Schools Consent Project is delighted to have had the opportunity to expand our work to include workshops for parents, summer camps, Parent Teacher Associations and many other caregiver-led groups.
The issue of consent and sexual education can be fraught. Many adults come into these conversations with our own biases and misconceptions. Having an up-to-date understanding of the law around "sexting", the age of consent, and sexual violence can help families better communicate around these challenging topics.
Kaitlin Andrews, our NY Manager, spent 15 years as an attorney for children in Family Court and has a deep understanding of the current legal landscape in the juvenile justice world. She proficiently presents to PTA groups, teachers, and other parent groups throughout the New York City area on emerging and ever-evolving issues: The sending and receipt of explicit images, the prevalence of non-fatal strangulation as an outgrowth of porn culture, the use of AI in child pornography, and much more. As the technological landscape is constantly changing for kids and parents, Kaitlin arms parents with the knowledge, the tools, and the confidence to navigate these deep waters.
